Error Spotting & Sentence Improvement:

⚡ Top 10 Golden Grammar Rules for Exams

Rule 1: Subject-Verb Agreement (कर्ता-क्रिया संगति)

क्रिया (Verb) हमेशा अपने मुख्य कर्ता (Main Subject) के अनुसार (Singular या Plural) प्रयुक्त होती है, न कि पास वाले शब्द के अनुसार।

  • Rule A (Nouns joined by ‘as well as’, ‘with’, ‘along with’, ‘together with’):

    जब दो Subjects as well as, along with, together with, in addition to, accompanied by से जुड़े हों, तो Verb हमेशा पहले Subject के अनुसार लगती है।

    • Incorrect: The Chief Minister along with his ministers are attending the meeting.

    • Correct: The Chief Minister along with his ministers is attending the meeting.

  • Rule B (Nouns joined by ‘either…or’, ‘neither…nor’, ‘not only…but also’):

    जब दो Subjects either…or, neither…nor, not only…but also से जुड़े हों, तो Verb हमेशा पास वाले (निकटतम) Subject के अनुसार आती है।

    • Incorrect: Neither the teacher nor the students was present.

    • Correct: Neither the teacher nor the students were present.

Rule 2: Uncountable Nouns & Plural Form Errors

कुछ Nouns हमेशा Uncountable होते हैं। इनका प्रयोग कभी भी Plural ( लगाकर) नहीं किया जाता और न ही इनसे पहले Indefinite Article () लगता है।

परीक्षाओं में अक्सर ऐसे वाक्य दिए जाते हैं जिनमें एक ही अर्थ वाले दो शब्दों का एक साथ प्रयोग कर दिया जाता है, जो व्याकरण की दृष्टि से गलत होता है।

Incorrect Expression (गलत)Correct Expression (सही)Reason (कारण)
Return backReturn‘Re’ का अर्थ ही वापस आना होता है
Repeat againRepeat‘Repeat’ का अर्थ ही दोहराना होता है
Revert backRevert‘Revert’ में ‘back’ निहित है

Rule 4: Misplaced Modifiers & Participle Errors

जब कोई Participle Clause (जैसे—Walking in the park…, Being a rainy day…) वाक्य की शुरुआत में आता है, तो वह तुरंत बाद आने वाले Subject को modify करता है। यदि Subject तार्किक रूप से मेल न खाए, तो वाक्य गलत हो जाता है।

    (यहाँ लग रहा है जैसे ‘I’ ही rainy day था)

Rule 5: Parallelism Rule (समानता का नियम)
