⚠️ CRITICAL EXAM RULE: Stative Verbs (गैर-प्रगतिशील क्रियाएं)

परीक्षाओं में सबसे अधिक प्रश्न Stative Verbs से पूछे जाते हैं। ये ऐसी क्रियाएं हैं जो किसी physical action को नहीं, बल्कि मानसिक स्थिति, भावना, अनुभूति या स्वामित्व (possession) को दर्शाती हैं। इनका प्रयोग सामान्यतः Progressive/Continuous () में नहीं किया जाता है।

यदि वाक्य में भूतकाल के निश्चित समय-सूचक शब्द (Past Time Adverbs) जैसे—yesterday, ago, last year, in 1947, last month दिए गए हों, तो Present Perfect () का प्रयोग गलत माना जाता है। वहाँ केवल Simple Past () का प्रयोग होगा।

  • Incorrect: India has won freedom in 1947.

  • Correct: India won freedom in 1947.

  • Incorrect: I have met him yesterday.

  • Correct: I met him yesterday.

4️⃣ Present Perfect Continuous Tense

जब कोई कार्य भूतकाल में किसी निश्चित समय पर शुरू हुआ हो और वर्तमान में भी लगातार जारी हो, तो Present Perfect Continuous का प्रयोग किया जाता है।

Auxiliary Verbs:

  • Has been / Have been

🎯 Rule of Since & For (निश्चित समय बनाम समयावधि):

                     ┌── Since ➔ Point of Time (प्रारंभिक बिंदु)
Since vs. For Rules ─┤ (e.g., Since 1995, Since Monday, Since 8 AM, Since morning)
                     │

⚡ Top 3 Exam Golden Rules for Present Tense

Rule 1: Conditional Clauses (शर्तसूचक वाक्य)

जब दो भविष्य के कार्य आपस में जुड़े हों और वाक्य में conditional conjunctions (If, As soon as, When, Unless, Until, Provided that) लगे हों, तो conditional clause में Simple Present Tense का प्रयोग होता है, Simple Future () का नहीं।

  • Incorrect: If it will rain, we will cancel the match.

  • Correct: If it rains, we will cancel the match.

Rule 2: Sentences starting with “It is time / It is high time”

यदि वाक्य में “It is time” या “It is high time” के बाद Subject दिया गया हो, तो Verb का Simple Past () रूप लगता है, न कि Present Tense।

  • Incorrect: It is high time we start studying.

  • Correct: It is high time we started studying.

Rule 3: Time Clauses with Present Perfect

जब वाक्य “Since” से दो उप-वाक्यों (clauses) को जोड़ता है:

  • Structure:

  • Example: Five years have passed since I left the college.

🏆 Practice Exercise: Exam-Style Spotting the Error

  1. Question: The chef is tasting (a) / the soup to see (b) / if it needs more salt (c) / No Error (d).

    • Correct Answer: (d) No Error

    • Explanation: यहाँ ‘tasting’ एक क्रियात्मक प्रक्रिया (action) को दर्शा रहा है, इसलिए Continuous tense सही है।

  2. Question: I am working (a) / in this government office (b) / since 2018 (c) / No Error (d).

    • Correct Answer: (a) I have been working

    • Explanation: ‘Since 2018’ समय बिंदु दिखाता है, इसलिए Present Continuous की जगह Present Perfect Continuous लगेगा।

  3. Question: As soon as he will arrive (a) / at the venue, (b) / the ceremony will begin (c) / No Error (d).

    • Correct Answer: (a) As soon as he arrives

    • Explanation: ‘As soon as’ वाले conditional clause में Simple Future के स्थान पर Simple Present Tense का प्रयोग होता है।

  4. Question: She has completed (a) / her bachelor degree (b) / three years ago (c) / No Error (d).

    • Correct Answer: (a) She completed

    • Explanation: ‘Ago’ भूतकाल का समय-सूचक है, इसके साथ Present Perfect नहीं, केवल Simple Past () लगेगा।

  5. Question: He is knowing (a) / all the formulas (b) / required for the exam (c) / No Error (d).

    • Correct Answer: (a) He knows
